My first sail boat

Kyosho Fortune 612 III Posted on Jul 19, 2014 13:12:24

After waiting some time I finally got my last 40 year birthday present: A Kyosho Fortune 612 III. Quite easy to put together and in my mind a very good looking boat. So far I have sailed it twice. It seems that I’ll need some practice to become good at sailing her but so far I have enjoyed it. I have had one issue though: One of the wires would become trapped in the details, meaning I couldn’t control the sail. So now I have mounted the crew to see if that solves the problem?

I have only done one modification so far: The receiver was replaced with a Spektrum MR200 so I can use the same transmitter that I usually use. Nothing wrong with the supplied receiver. I do have some ideas for modifications though smiley

Some pictures of her. I hope you will enjoy her just as much as I do:

Flat paint on the UNIMOG

Tamiya CR-01 UNIMOG Posted on Jul 19, 2014 12:54:04

Just a few pictures from after I added a flat coating to the UNIMOG. I masked off the windows with TAMIYA masking tape on the outside and on the inside and then sprayed it with TAMIYA PS-55 – a clear flat paint.

I also got a set of headlight lenses for a TAMIYA bruiser that I intend to use for headlights in the UNIMOG. The the diameter is almost exactly the same. I drilled one of the headlights. Then I found that my reamer would only go to 18mm, whereas the Bruiser headlight is 18.25mm. For this reason I have ordered another reamer going from 10mm to 25mm. In the mean time the UNIMOG has some war damage.

I also got some other upgrades today. More info about these in the coming posts.

Check it all in the pictures below:
