While I have been busy collecting documentation and upgrade parts for my Yamato, Tamiya has released a new 1/350 Yamato kit including some photo etch and as I understand a new mold as they seem to have found more details in old documentation.

I my thinking I’ll build my old kit with all my upgrades and if I want to build another Yamato, I’ll try the new kit.

One nice thing about this hobby, one is never short of wishes for Christmas and birthday. I always put things for my hobby on the wish list. A nice way to collect stuff for future projects not started yet. This year I got some upgrades for my Yamato that I haven’t started yet. A photo etch set from Eduard and a book with lots of detailed info.

Thanks smiley

Tamiya Yamato

Last Saturday I was gifted with a 1/350 Yamato battleship smiley Some big battleship that is. A bit shorter than USS New Jersey but somewhat wider. The propeller shafts should be easier to mount than in New Jersey. The rudder installation is however quite interesting and might be tricky to get working right if it is to be authentic.

More info on the real thing on wikipedia:

I know that Eduard has a photo etch set for this boat. That will probably make it look quite good.
