RC Helicopter flying, RC Cars and RC boating

Made for other people and me to track what I am doing when with my remote controlled units. It started out with helicopters. Hence the name.

If only one of my units is of interest, this unit can be clicked on the right and only posts regarding that unit shows up.

Arduino Nano from HobbyKing

No topic Posted on Feb 03, 2013 16:11:55

Earlier this week an Arduino Nano from HobbyKing arrived. For some odd reason they had shipped it in an envelope The result was that some of the connector pins were bent. See the pictures below.

I corrected the pins and the Arduino seems to be fine. Perhaps they should rename it as Arduino Squeeze?

First Arduino program

After a little bit of playing around with Arduino I have made my first program or sketch as they call them at the Arduino web site. It is a program for slowing down servo movement. It is intended to control servos that rotates the main guns on a Yamato model.

Here is a recording I made with one servo attached:
It may be possible to avoid the initial servo movement by adding pull down resistors. I haven’t tried that yet. This initial servo movement isn’t shown in the video.

Size N model train ride

A few weeks ago I visited the hobby fair in Valbyhallen in Copenhagen and met with a friend of mine, who runs size N model trains. I had brought one of my 808 #16 spy cameras and then we decided to put the camera on a train and have a ride.

Here is the result:
I hope you enjoyed the ride smiley

Today I got an Arduino. Arduino is a microcontroller board. I am not sure what I will use it for. At first it will be to try it out and find out what can be done with it. Then it will probably be something about controlling lights and servos. In a submarine I think I could find lots of uses smiley

Here are some pictures:

All that video editing is the reason why my PT-15 build is progressing so slowly. That will soon come to an end for now as the outdoor season is coming to and end at start October.

Anyway here are a few videos I have made:’

Scratch built HMS Sheffield:

Robbe – Happy Hunter:
P 510 Søløven – Scratch built torpedo boat:

DMI Vedette (This is an old kit that went out of production about 50 years ago):

That’s it. I hope you enjoyed some of all this video smiley

More model boat videos

I realise it has been some time since my last post. I don’t get much model work done, but I do make some videos.

Here is a video of a steam tug named Nihil: video was mostly filmed from my Phantom with a 808 #16 camera.

A video of Nahla. A steam launch. This is also partially filmed from my Phantom:
A video of Billing Boats – Fairmount Alpine. This one is painted in blue: – A scratch built paddle wheel boat. I find this boat a joy to watch on the water:

1/6 scale almost scratch built Riva Aquarama. This is a huge boat weighting about 20 kg:
Thanks for looking. I hope you enjoyed some of the boats smiley
